What to look for in a breathwork facilitator training.

Ten criteria, weighted, and a scorecard you can run on anybody. Including us.

We run a training. That is a conflict of interest and it would be strange to pretend otherwise, so here is how it has been handled: the criteria below are the ones a careful buyer should use, not the ones we happen to score well on. Two of them we do not lead the field on, and they are marked. Run the scorecard on us and on everybody else, and choose on the evidence.

Before the criteria

Accredited is not a regulated word.

Australia regulates sixteen health professions nationally through Ahpra. Breathwork is not among them, which means no government body sets a minimum standard for training, and no government body issues accreditation for it. When a provider says accredited, they are describing recognition by a private membership body, a professional association, or an insurer.

That recognition is not worthless. It is often what makes professional indemnity insurance available to you, which is the practical gate. But it is not what most people assume it is, and it does not distinguish a weekend certificate from a year of supervised practice. Both can carry the word.

Self
The field self-regulates. Bodies such as the Australian Breathwork Association verify training credentials and hold members to a code of ethics. Membership is voluntary.

Ask
The only reliable move available to you. Accredited by whom, assessed how, and what would have caused somebody to fail. A provider who cannot answer the third question has no assessment.
The single highest-yield question on this page.
The scorecard

Ten criteria, weighted by how much they actually predict.

Score a provider you are considering. Answer from what you can verify on their site or in a call, not from the impression they gave you. Unclear is a real answer and it is scored as such, because information a provider chose not to publish is itself information.

Nothing is sent anywhere. Your answers stay in this browser.

What we would say out loud

Where a training like ours is the wrong choice.

Even-handedness is more useful to you than advocacy, and it is cheap for us to be honest here because the women who ignore this are the ones who withdraw in week three.

What we would not compromise on. Supervised practicum, real assessment with a possible fail, contraindication screening taught properly, and a named insurance pathway. Those four are not preferences. A training without them is not preparing you to be responsible for anyone.

The training page is written to answer all ten criteria directly, including the two we do not lead on. Applications for the September intake are open.
